The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is a separate entity within the U.S. Department of Transportation that was established by the Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act of 1999. It went into effect January 1, 2000.
