Rollover Truck Accidents
Rollover accidents are extremely dangerous in personal vehicles. They are possibly the most dangerous type of personal vehicle accident. This is because personal vehicles are not designed to absorb impact from the top. There is also less control when the wheels leave the ground. A vehicle with the brakes applied during a crash will stop more readily than a vehicle that is rolling over or sliding on its top or side.
The same is true for trucks. No vehicle is designed to be upside down or on its side. Unfortunately, large trucks are prone to rolling over. This is because of the way they are built.
Vehicles with higher centers of gravity are far more likely to roll over than those with lower centers of gravity. Trucks are built with a very high center of gravity, and can therefore roll over more easily than other vehicles.
The speed at which a vehicle is traveling also contributes to rollovers. The faster a vehicle travels, the more likely it is to roll over in an accident. Any vehicle can roll over if it is going fast enough. Trucks on the highway are generally traveling around 70 mph. This speed, added to their high center of gravity makes the chance of a rollover much higher.
Trucks that roll over can cause just as much danger, and more in some cases, as other truck accidents.
